‘Get on yer bike!’ – with the Greater Brighton Cycle Challenge, Sunday 1st July

The Greater Brighton Cycle Challenge is a fun day out at Preston Park on Sunday 1st July, to raise money for local good causes and as a celebration of cycling and the world-class environment that we live in.

The Living Coast has teamed up with local homeless charity Brighton Housing Trust to create a family event that all ages and abilities can get involved in. By partnering together at this event, we are linking our local social and environmental objectives, whilst raising money for great causes and awareness of the issues that they address.

Keen cyclists can participate in one of the more challenging bike rides ‘Around The Living Coast’ to enjoy the beauty of our UNESCO World Biosphere Region, by cycling a 30 or 58 mile route along the coast and around the South Downs. Local Brighton based not for profit company, CSS Events, is organising and supporting The Living Coast rides.

Or anyone with a bike can take the ‘Around the World Challenge’ at the Preston Park velodrome in Brighton at any time on the day between 7 am and 7 pm. The aim is to collectively ride the entire distance around the world throughout the day – a total of 40,075km! Family-fun entertainment including a “Smoothie bike” and other refreshments will be available.

Cyclists can raise money either for BHT’s work to combat homelessness, including the First Base day centre that supports people who are sleeping rough or insecurely housed in Brighton and Hove, or for other local good causes of their choosing.

To register for this event, please go to the website or the Facebook event page.

    Hiya,

I would like to participate as well as my 7 year old child. If ever he couldn’t get through in the muddle of the event is it alright to stop?

    How could we register ourselves?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks for your interest in our charitable cycling event on 1st July.
Our article above includes links on how to register at https://www.bht.org.uk/about-the-greater-brighton-cycle-challenge/
Note that there are 3 main rides happening – one around the Preston Park velodrome which is child-friendly (family sessions are 10-12 am and 2-4pm), whereas the longer rides around The Living Coast (30 or 58 miles) would likely be too much for your young child?
We look forward to welcoming your participation.
Thanks – The Living Coast team
