The Living Coast through the eyes of John Constable 1824-1828

The exhibition Constable and Brighton at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery brings together over 60 works that he produced during his time in the town in the 1820s. Whilst in Brighton Constable took many walks and sketched and painted the views and activity of The Living Coast.

The Brighton & Lewes Downs UNESCO World Biosphere Region has unveiled a new identity for our area as ‘The Living Coast’ – billed as the place where people and nature come together in our world-class environment.

The Living Coast (‘TLC’) aims to engage many more residents, organisations and visitors in enjoying and improving our special environment of Downs, Towns and Coast which are the three elements of the new identity.

And look up at night to try to catch the Lyrids meteor shower that peaks on the night of 22nd-23rd April.
